The Pre-op Exam
Please allow 2 – 3 hours for the extensive preoperative examination.
Ask a friend or family member to come along. Your pupils will be dilated
for some time after the examination and you should not attempt to leave
the clinic alone.
A number of tests will be included to make sure that you are a good candidate
for refractive surgery and to select the procedure that will benefit you
most.
In you select LASIK surgery, the following tests will be performed:
- Autorefractometer
- Objective and subjective refraction
- Corneal topography
- Meso-Test
- Ginsburg Test (contrast vision)
- Pupillometry
- Wavefront Analysis
After these tests, your eyes will be examined by one of our surgeons.
If you select a different procedure, such as a lens implant or a lens
exchange, other test are necessary to measure the axial length of the
eye and to calculate the strength of the lens (pachymetry, IOL Master).
Depending on certain conditions, further imaging techniques may be used
