How long will it be before I can see without glasses?
You will regain close to normal vision as early as the day following
LASIK surgery, but may experience some fluctuations in your vision, within
the first weeks. Your vision should reach its final stability within 6
to 8 weeks after surgery.
What does the postoperative treatment consist
of?
The postoperative treatment itself depends on the type of procedure.
Generally, it consists of applying eye drops over a limited period of
time. Your cooperation as a patient is extremely important. Please carefully
follow any instructions you received from your ophthalmologist and keep
all appointments for postoperative check-ups. Should any problems arise,
please consult your attending ophthalmologist immediately. Postoperative
treatment with medication (such as eye drops containing cortisone used
especially after PRK) requires regular check-ups in order to avoid any
undesired side effects.
How many postoperative check-ups are necessary?
On the day of surgery, you will make appointments for a series of postoperative
check-ups. Depending on the type of surgical procedure, 5 to 10 appointments
will be necessary. It is also possible to arrange to have these check-ups
with your primary ophthalmologist or optometrist.
