Flying Spot Laser- What is it?Flying Spot lasers — or Spot scanning lasers – were introduced in 1996. They utilize small diameter laser beams (from 0.8 to 2 mm) scanned across the cornea to produce the ablation zone. Prior laser beams had a much larger diameter (6mm). Flying spot technology has the potential to produce the smoothest ablations, the most accurate customized ablations and to better treat irregular astigmatism. |
