Astigmatic Keratotomy (AK) Astigmatic keratotomy, or AK, is a surgical procedure that attempts
to reduce severe to extreme astigmatism (resulting from a perforating
eye injury or corneal transplant) by placing a small arch-shaped incision
at the periphery of the cornea. Side effects include sensitivity, light pain and vision fluctuations for the first few weeks after surgery. |
